A Little About Fleur and Stems
Fleur + Stems offers floral services for any occasion, but most of their clients are engaged couples and corporate partners. Fleur + Stems prides themselves on customizing each floral order to meet the needs of their clients, whether that means working within a specific budget or a unique style. They are always excited to work with a client that wants a unique look which allows them to showcase their talents and abilities in a new way.
What should a client look for when booking a florist?
Most couples will look over a potential florist’s portfolio prior to contacting them to get an idea of a florist’s past work and to see if their style compliments what they are looking for. This is something we highly recommend. It is not only important to make sure you like a florist’s style, but it’s also important to have an in-person consultation, if possible, prior to booking. Making sure personalities work well together is just as important as cohesive style. You want to select vendors that communicate well before and after booking with them and whom you enjoy working with. You also want to make sure that a florist is going to be able to work within your desired budget. Fleur + Stems does not require a minimum order, but some floral companies may. This is a great question to ask in an initial contact with a floral company.
How should a client prepare for their initial consultation?
There are a couple of items that are helpful to come prepared with to make the most out of an initial consultation with Fleur + Stems.
What you need – Are you looking for flowers for your ceremony, reception, or both? Also providing quantities of bridesmaid bouquet, boutonnieres, and centerpieces is helpful.
Budget – Knowing your budget allows us to offer better insight into the options you may have for your flower selections and arrangements. We would rather work within a known budget, instead of proposing options that are far outside of what you intend to spend and end up having to make disappointing cutbacks.
Color Palette, and Favorite Flowers – Knowing the colors you would like to have in your arrangements helps us to know what flowers we can recommend. If you have specific flowers you love, or even hate, that is important to know when we are putting together an estimate for a client.
Venue – Having your venue selected allows us to estimate delivery fees accurately and understand what will be necessary in order to set up your event.
Do you prefer to work with or without a wedding planner?
We definitely prefer working with a wedding planner! Brides can be very busy while trying to plan a wedding and they have a lot of people contacting them with various questions and follow-ups. A wedding planner often has all the information we need and can eliminate the busy work for the bride. We can discuss high level decisions with the bride and if there are any small questions we may have, we can go to their planner.
What is some advice you have for every couple?
First, trust your florist. If you decide to hire a florist, you need to put your trust in them to do what they do best. Don’t try to micromanage them. They are professionals and will work with you to make sure your vision comes to life. Second, it is important to be willing to be flexible with your floral vision. You need to remember that flowers are seasonal and colors in the photos you may find on Pinterest may not always be an accurate representation of the real-life offering.
