Showing Appreciation at Your Wedding

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week I thought it would be a great opportunity to write about a few of the ways you can give thanks to others at your wedding. Below are a few examples of ways in which couples can show their appreciation:

Destination Weddings:

Many guests who attend a destination wedding are spending money on flights, rooms, food, gas, rental cars, and more to attend the wedding. Not to mention they might be taking time off work or using up a precious PTO day, to attend your wedding. A nice welcome bag that they can enjoy upon their arrival at the wedding is always appreciated. Some great items to include are:

  • Drink: this could be water, Gatorade, lemonade, or something unique to the destination.

  • A Savory Snack: this could be nuts, chips, popcorn, or crackers.

  • A Sweet Snack: this could be a cookie, chocolate, candy.

  • A Breath Freshener: this could be mints, a small bottle of mouthwash, or gum.

  • A Hangover Kit: this could include Aspirin, Liquid IV, Alka Seltzer, or more.

Your Parents, Grandparents, or Other Special Family Members:

Most couples have family members that are contributing towards their wedding, or family members that just mean a great deal to them. There are so many ways to show your appreciation for them. A couple of examples are:

  • You could have a custom drawing made of you and your mom, and during a private moment you present her with the gift.

  • You could have a special keepsake necklace or a piece of jewelry made for your mom, grandmother, or other special family member.

  • You could give them a special bottle of liquor or wine.

  • You could have a special photo with them and you from your wedding framed and sent to them after the wedding.

All guests

Not all weddings are destination weddings, but all guests are taking time to spend and create memories with you on your special day. As an appreciation to each guests you could do one of the following:

  • Give each guest a special box of chocolates, or a container of your favorite treat.

  • Each guest can receive a fun or themed bottle opener.

  • Provide each guest with a small customized candle.

  • Each guest can go home with a small bag of local treats.

  • Guests can take home small succulents that remind them of your day.

  • Make customized water bottles for guests to use throughout the celebration.
